Our Story

In 2018, I stepped into the role of Director at Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Gold Coast with a deep passion for young people and a clear vision for their future. From the start, I believed in the potential within every young person to rise above their circumstances and become a beacon of hope and change. This wasn’t just a job for me—it was a calling to help transform lives.

My vision was simple: to create a thriving YWAM base where young people could discover their God-given purpose and be equipped to make a lasting impact. I imagined a community full of life and energy, where mentorship and support were at the heart of everything we did, guiding young people through their struggles and helping them grow into confident, capable leaders.

Over the years, I’ve seen this vision come to life in powerful ways. One young person came to us battling hopelessness and addiction, and through our outreach programs, he found new purpose and direction. Another arrived unsure of what he wanted to do with his life, and after being mentored through our training, he transformed into a leader who now helps others find their path. These stories remind me of why we push forward even when the challenges seem overwhelming.

Today, YWAM Gold Coast continues to dream big. We are driven by a belief that every young person we encounter has the potential to change the world. While the journey has required faith, resilience, and perseverance, the impact we’re seeing makes it all worthwhile. Lives are being changed, and the vision is becoming reality.

But there’s so much more to be done. We invite others to join us in this mission, to be part of a movement that is equipping young people with the faith, courage, and tools to lead and make a difference. Together, we can take this vision further and continue to transform lives for the better.

The mission is giving them the right environment to flourish and grow through teaching, mentorship, leadership development a supportive community and practical opportunities to make a difference.

We have seen hundreds of young people come through our programs totally transformed and giving back to their communities.

Before I joined YWAM, I had such a lack of confidence in myself and in my faith. I was insecure in who I was and I didn’t really know what I was good at. I did training at YWAM and I have been given so many opportunities to step out of my comfort zone and gain confidence in who I am and the things I feel I’m called to do. YWAM has given me the tools, community and support to grow in my character and has given me opportunities to practically walk things out. I have been so encouraged in how I have grown in leadership and confidence. It has been 2 years since I first did the discipleship program at YWAM and I am now living in a better place helping other young people overcome challenges.

It's been 6 years since I first did training with YWAM. I can look back now and without a shadow of doubt say that Youth with a Mission made me better. I was an immature, naïve and overconfident 21-year-old when I arrived. I needed a community of mentors that would challenge me to find purpose, discipline and charity for my neighbour. Youth with a Mission was built to do this and they do so with humility and excellence. There isn’t one skill that was developed within the doors of YWAM that I don’t use to this day. For example, they taught me what it is to exemplify servant leadership. This has directly impacted my workplace, community, and most of all my family. I will forever be grateful for their investment

The Diploma Course has given me so much confidence and opportunity to step into leadership. I have learned how to work with different types of people and how to communicate effectively to solve problems and empower people. I am now helping lead a youth movement that is changing the lives others that need mentorship and encouragement. I am using many of the skills learned on my diploma course on a weekly basis. I am grateful for the team at YWAM for helping me.
